MHBeach – Free Meadowhall Beach, Sheffield

MH Beach at Meadowhall

We stumbled upon the MH Beach at Meadowhall last week and was really pleasantly surprised. It turned our afternoon into a lovely free day out for Eric which he really enjoyed. It was simple, yet enjoyable, and I just had to share! This pop up sandy beach is right next to the playground and open daily until Sunday 3rd September so make sure you check it out before it goes. There’s a kids club from 11am-2pm too at the beach with hoopla, sports games, face painting and more.

Why did we love it? The pop up beach is clean, big and spacious. It’s decorated pretty too, I loved the theme of it. Eric loved playing in the sand and had lots of space to roam… it wasn’t small and crowded. It’s right next to the playground, too, which is a fantastic pair. Eric loved going from playing in the playground, to playing on the beach; it was a winning combo!

The toys were packed away once the kids club finished at 2pm, with the buckets and spades which Eric was using taken away until the next day; however, when the entertainment team were packing away they came over with a free bucket, spade and toy shapes for Eric to have. I thought this was a really nice thing to do, even though it was basic and just a few small toys, it really made Eric excited and he loved having his own set especially for him.

Yep, it’s free. There’s no hidden extra costs, too, and no cheeky stalls selling toys, rides, games, sweets, slushies, etc., which are usually the things at free summer events which catch out parents and children; turning a supposed free day out into actually something expensive. If your toddler is anything like mine, I try to avoid going to places which have those stalls, Eric just gets so distracted with the toys on sale and attractive over priced rides… it can turn into a tantrum. At the MH Beach though, there’s none of that, so it really is free. There’s a few picnic benches around, so you could even make a day of it by taking your own food.

I very much recommend for something simple and free to do, make sure you visit before September 3rd.
