Well, it’s that time again! Another weekend top picks. The weekends seem to come so quickly in December, don’t you think? And this is the last weekend before christmas eve. CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!… literally! Are you doing anything festive this weekend with the family? Or are you keeping it a quiet one and getting prepared? See the amazing lights and have a festive walk at Enchanted Brodsworth all weekend. Be delighted with a walk around the grounds after dark, enjoy a fairy themed wonderland with lights, colours on the enchanted trail. There’s festive food and drink, vintage games and a traditional fairground. Book ahead to get a slot at the Santa’s grotto!
Meet Father Christmas at Bolton Abbey Estate in his festive old romany caravan with his merry elves. Tucked away in the magical woods, visitors can find their own way to meet the man himself. In addition, they’ll be make your own Christmas decoration craft, carols, log fires and a wishing tree. Each child will receive a gift with their name on so you must book in advance. £12 for each child, £10 parking & usual admission applies.
Highfield Adventure Playground Christmas party is on Saturday, 1:30pm-3:30pm, free entry with all donations very welcome. There’s a Santa’s grotto, food and drink, games and gifts.
Tapton Hall are having a kids Christmas party on Saturday, 1-3pm, £10 a child includes food, Santa, crafts, games and fun!
Visit Matlock this weekend for the very festive Christmas markets. There’s loads for kids at these markets in Hall Ley’s Park with free entry. Lots of stalls, grotto, reindeer, face painting, music, entertainment, balloons and so much more.
Enjoy Breakfast with Santa at Ice Sheffield! This includes a buffet breakfast and a festive skate with Santa, Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am-10:30am.
From 10am-4pm, experience A 1940’s Christmas! at National Emergency Services Museum. You can meet Santa, enjoy food, craft workshops, live music and explore the museum.
Worsbrough Mill Festive Weekend is bringing Santa along to the mill! They’ll be food and drink, festive face painting, crafts and music.
Catch the last weekend of the Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s Christmas Fair. This popular family event has over 100 stalls, crafts, food, drink, fairground and entertainment. Entry to the whole of the zoo and attractions is included in a Christmas market ticket!
Head over to Weston Park Museum this weekend and meet santa! Santa at the Museum on Saturday is from 10am-5pm and costs £6 per child with a gift.
On Saturday, 11:45am-12:30 it’s the wonderful Concerteenies: Donald Grant, violin (1s and 2s, siblings welcome) at The Greystones, Sheffield. Donald Grant will be performing for the children whilst they have fun with “bubbles, percussion, dancing, singing and informal introductions, this is a fun and highly engaging concert for adults and their babies”.
Kids are free and it’s only £1 an adult for the Christmas at Storrs Wood event all weekend, 12-6pm. They’ll be a painted jar trail in the woods, Christmas crafts, treasure hunt for children, a brass band, food and drink and lots more festive things to enjoy.
A little further afield!
A warm picnic at National Trust Nostell Priory welcomes Father Christmas this weekend, from 3pm-4pm both days. Enjoy a buffet of picnic food, receive a gift from Santa and take part in Christmas crafts.
Looking for a fantastic grotto? The Eureka! Grotto is net mum’s top rated Santa grotto! Visit this weekend and meet the man himself and his little helpers in a cozy grotto at Eureka! the national childrens museum. There is an additional cost of £3 for the grotto.
Wrap up warm and do the free Room on the broom adventure book trail at Anglers country park. In addition, there’s make your own festive wreaths and reindeer crafts in the discovery centre (addition charge for crafts).
Santa is at Shipley Glen Tramway all weekend! For £5 children receive a gift and a festive tram ride.
