Last year, we had a day out at Tropical World in Leeds a good 4 times. We love it there and thought it was time to go back again now our son is walking!
Tropical world is all indoors and has a good variety of animals, insects, plants, walk throughs with butterflies and fish to feed. There’s a large gift shop and cafe. Only a short distance from the centre of Leeds and situated in Roundhay park it makes a good day out.
It is good value for money too, £6 for adults and £3 for kid with under 5s free.
This time round with Eric walking it was a different experience, previously he was under 1 when we had visited. It was really fun to have him wandering around looking at everything. He loved the fish and the meerkats.
Tropical world is small enough that toddlers can enjoy most of it without getting too tired. There was enough to keep him entertained. It is a good layout and walking through the rainforest is relaxing.
Unfortunately, our favourite rooms, the rainforest canopy area with monkeys and rainforest floor with a waterfall, were closed on the day. Refurbishment was taking place. I’m sure it looks great now, but we were upset as we had travelled there from Sheffield on that day especially. This is the waterfall area from last year.
There were also no butterflies anywhere which is a shame as Eric really likes them.
There were free activities going on in the family room by the gift shop which was a really nice surprise. This room was good for toddlers with a small soft play area with a tunnel, crafts table, dressing up corner and books.
Roundhay Park is really beautiful with lots to explore and a playground just across the road from Tropical World so definitely check this out, too.
Tropical world is a lovely day out and a good family attraction but plan ahead and check before you go!
Have you been to tropical world? Let me know what you think!
Thanks for reading / watching 🙂
