One for… Train trip

How To Make Trains Journeys With Toddlers Easy (& Enjoyable!)

Head to Hathersage by train for an adventure. Check out the amazing playground behind the outdoor pool! There’s so many lovely walks in the area, I love Bamford and walking from Hathersage to Longshaw via Bolehill Quarry. Definitely recommend those walks. 🙂

One for… museum

Kelham Island Museum has an indoor soft play, cafe, so much to see and discover, history, tools, vehicles, old shops and alleyways to explore and a museum trail. Good for all ages.

One for… playground

Best things to do at Tropical Butterfly House, Sheffield What's on this weekend in/near Sheffield for Kids April 28/29
Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre

We’ve been trying out some playgrounds in the local area and really liked Bolehill Recreation Ground in Crookes last week. For another playground recommendation, Rivelin Valley Park is one of my favourites and has a nature trail, cafe and woodlands.

One for… somewhere to eat

My favourite place to eat recently has been Couch on Campo Lane. It’s so kid friendly. The food is delicious, good variety on the menu including vegan options, and you must try the milkshakes!

One for… big day out

I’m desperate to go to Sundown Adventureland, as we haven’t been yet but it’s not accessible for public transport. If you rely on buses/trains/trams, too, why not visit Robin Hoods Wheelgate Theme Park? There’s so much to do for toddlers, farm, rides, indoor and outdoor play, villages, maze, aviary, water park, adventure playground, tropical house, places to eat & drink, little train ride. We really like it and I totally recommend it; it’s so much fun.

To get there from Sheffield you can either get the train to workshop then sherwood arrow bus, or train to Nottingham and sherwood arrow bus.

What are you doing this weekend?

There’s a good variety of events on and things to choose from; I’m undecided! We are going to Nottingham on Monday and staying overnight at Sherwood Forest YHA, so I’m not sure we are going to be doing anything huge over the weekend. We’ll see! What are you doing? Do join us over in our community group and come have a chat! 🙂
