The weeks are flying by, right? Welcome to another weekend roundup, for January 26th and 27th. What’s on this weekend? Looking for ideas of what you can do with your family this weekend in and around Sheffield? Weekend roundups have a mix of events, day out ideas and recommendations to help you plan.
The weather could change but at the moment it’s looking like a wet Saturday and a dry Sunday.

Events and day out ideas for January 26th – 27th
Hide from the wet weather on Saturday and have a free day out at Weston Park Museum.
Play at Curious Kids Town. An indoor play centre in Sheffield with role play areas such as Supermarket, Vet and Cafe.
Cinema: The new Nutcracker and the four realms film is on Mini Mornings at Vue Cinema, 10am Saturday & Sunday. See the Grinch at Light Cinema 10am Saturday & Sunday. It’s Goosebumps 2, Luis and the Aliens or Nutcracker at Cineworld, or the Nutcracker at the Odeon Luxe.
South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum is open 10am-4pm. Adults £6.50, free under 5’s.
Brook garden centre in Chesterfield have extended their soft play area and cafe seating.
Go swimming at Hillsborough Leisure Centre or Ponds Forge. Alternatively, there’s Calypso Cove water park in Barnsley!
Kids 6 years+ can enjoy Wild Kids Yoga at Botanical Gardens on Saturday.
FREE community event at Greenhill Library on Saturday, 12-3pm. They’ll be giant connect 4, giant jenga and a kids reading corner.
And on Saturday 10-mid day plant a tree and watch it grow for years to come at Manor Fields Park!
Find a lovely Sheffield park with a cafe. Nothing better than a walk and play followed up with a warm drink!
There’s a pop up shop at Kiddy Winx Play Cafe on Saturday with Monkey & Buddy.
Soft play is great for burning off energy! There’s big slides and frames at Medieval Mayhem in S3, or try Big Apple for big, bright and clean with a sensory room for little ones and a rainbow theme. Playmania Sheffield is small and good for under 5’s, or try Fun House in Hillsborough for another small play centre.
Matlock Farm Park have slashed their prices for January. £7 adults and kids over 2 £5.
Cannon Hall Farm have a good deal for January going on, including the weekends. £4.95 per person instead of £6.95 which includes everything; just show the voucher on arrival here.
There’s lots to do in Manchester, if you fancy an adventure! Legoland Discovery Centre, Chill Factore and Sealife Centre for attractions. Plus there’s some great museums I recommend Manchester Museum and MSI Museum, both free.

Little ones can try out their circus skills on Sunday at Greentop Circus at 10:45am.
Don’t forget there’s toddler sessions at Jump Inc Sheffield and Airhaus at Meadowhall for trampolining or Inflatable fun (plus Jump Incflated at Rotherham). Plus IKEA is around the corner from Airhaus!
Have a free day out at Experience Barnsley Museum on Saturday, combine it with Cooper Gallery for double whammy! Cafe is currently closed at Experience Barnsley but there is a lovely one at Cooper Gallery. Open Saturday, not Sundays.
Magna Science Adventure Centre is open again as usual after a 6 week closure. There’s indoor and outdoor options, plus annual pass upgrades available. It’ll be open 10am-4pm this weekend and cafe open. Book online to save 10%.
Kelham Island Museum is open on Sundays and has a great little soft play area, interesting transport gallery, old Sheffield streets and cafe.
Last Saturday, we went into town for a few hours. There’s a new free installation at the Millennium Galleries which is quite interesting with a moving floor. We love the Winter Gardens for finding the animals, throwing pennies in the fountain and “the spiky plants”. Waterstones is our go-to, as well!
Here’s why you’ll love a day out at Tropical World in Leeds. A small but fun indoor tropical house and zoo in Roundhay Park.
Stay warm and visit a museum. All free: Try Wonderlab at National Science & Media Museum in Bradford, see dinosaurs at Manchester Museum, have fun with light and sound in Experiment! at MSI Museum, Leeds City Museum have a birthday party on Saturday!, don’t forget it’s free returns to Eureka! if you’ve been before, and National Space Museum in Leicester.
