This weeks Top 5 Ideas
One for… Countryside
If you can travel, the stepping stones at Dovedale are an icon and it’s wonderful there. Possibly one of the best picnic spots in the whole of England, for sure! National Trust Ilam Park is nearby which is definitely worth a visit. Closer to Sheffield, try the outdoor pool at Hathersage for something different.
One for… Local Park
Graves Park is always popular on a nice weekend, and it’ll be less busy on Saturday and Sunday due to the Highfield Fling festival being held there on Bank Holiday Monday. Graves Park has a free animal farm, cafe, really good playground, woodlands and loads of space to picnic and play. Don’t forget about the second hidden playground on woodseats, too!
One for… Family Pub
There’s live music and lots of happenings at The Greystones for the weekend. Try out Low/High Bradfield for lovely family friendly pubs, too, we recently just found The Old Horns Inn in High Bradfield with a beer garden that has the best views ever! The kids can play, too!
One for… Treat Day Out
We loved National Trust Harwick Hall. The gardens are beautiful, the hidden nature play trail is so fun and we really loved exploring the grounds. Try to find the fairy houses! It’s tricky to get to by public transport. Lovely place with food facilities, though.
One for… Fantastic Weather
Trains go direct to Cleethorpes from Sheffield and only take 2 hours. Once there, you’ll hop off the train right onto the beach with miles of sand.
There’s loads to do in Cleethorpes, too. Land train, mini steam trains, play areas, sand pits, paddling pool, arcades, places to eat and drink, and not forgetting fish and chips!
