Hey guys! Welcome back to the weekend roundups for what’s on in Sheffield. I took a little break after the bumper edition for February half-term due to moving house and all, but I’m hoping to be back in full swing for March. I’m currently writing this with a ton of snow outside and the forecast says this is only the beginning… so this weekend might see many of us snowed in. However! If you still want to go out and have fun there’s lots to do still and here’s some fantastic ideas. Lots of snow is forecast all over the UK – are you staying in? These 11 creative and easy activities for indoor play will keep you and the kids busy; try a few out this weekend!

Wrap up warm, get outside and choose any of these family snow activities to do! Why not make snow lollies, a rainbow snowman or go sledging?! We went sledging for the first time and it was so fun!

Children’s libraries are a fantastic and free resource for families, many of them in Sheffield double up as safe and fun play centres with toys, books, puzzles and activities. We really like Totley Library, Central Children’s Library and Park Library in Sheffield.

The Hepworth Wakefield Print Fair 2018 is on all weekend and is set to be a fantastic event. A selection of over 50 printmakers, collectives and galleries, the fair is in their Mill factory and includes a special event programme. Street food markets, talks and free family art activities will be on to entertain all. Plus there’s the Hepworth Cafe, playground outside and free galleries to browse. Family activities at the print fair:

FRI 2 MARCH, DROP-IN 12.30 – 3PM
Take time out of the hustle and bustle of our Print Fair to get creative with sensory mark-making, explore play environments and experiment with printmaking. FREE

FRI 2 & SAT 3 MARCH, 11AM – 4PM
Look out for our Art Pods in the galleries and work together as a family to make something inspired by your favourite pieces of art. FREE

Join us to make your own printed lantern to take home. Inspired by our exhibition Anthony McCall: Solid Light Works. FREE

Look out for Explore & Draw stations in the galleries to borrow looking tools, handling objects and drawing materials to discover our exhibitions and create your own works of art. FREE

It’s Peddler night market time! On the first weekend of every month down at Kelham Island peddler market is the place to be for yummy street food. It’s family friendly, too, free entry and always a fantastic atmosphere.

On Saturday, try messy play at Rumble in the Jungle at Kiveton Park and Wales Village Hall 1-2pm.

St Tims Families Board Games Cafe on Saturday is open 2pm-4:30pm and has a great selection of board games to play. Traditional children’s games are available plus refreshments, and an unsupervised creche for little ones. £1.

Grimm & Co are having a party and you’re invited! On Saturday 9am-4pm in Rotherham, “our founder Graham Grimm decided to lift the invisibility charm that had hidden us from the mortal world, and open the doors to …humans!!”. They’ll be cake, games, music, party bags and magic. Fancy dress encouraged! Free entry.

Enjoy yummy Children’s Afternoon Tea at Lottie’s Coffee Lounge at Tropical Butterfly House, Sheffield. All weekend, £8.95 a child, book online.

Have a free day out at Weston Park Museum, Sheffield.

Make your own bath bombs and soap at Jo-Jo’s Brinsworth, Saturday 9am-10:30. Craft session for all ages £5 deposit.

Have fun at Cannon Hall Farm this weekend with the Superhero Weekend Event! Four time slots with a party, disco and games are available Saturday and Sunday.

National Railway Museum in York is free, fantastic and very fun! Lots to see plus play areas in and outdoors.
