Eric is soooo into cars, it’s his favourite thing in the world! So I knew we had to go to the Classic Car Show at the Moor in Sheffield. This year (2018) the Classic Car Show took place on Sunday August 6th. We’ll definitely go again next year.
Classic Car Show 2018 Moor Sheffield
Are you wondering how many cars there are? Or if it’s any good for a toddler who’s mad about cars? Well, there’s lots of cars… we saw more than 50 classic cars. Eric was sooo happy to go around looking at all the different types, talking about them, and even got to sit inside two.
The classic car owners were all friendly and completely open to the idea of toddlers touching the cars. Eric really loved how interactive it was, because often in museums classic cars are behind barriers. But this time he got to be up close!
Eric is a huge fan of Disney cars and lightning Mcqueen, so we were spotting out characters from those at the car show all day. Sarge, Chick Hicks and Sheriff were ones we “met” at the show 😉
Many of the classic cars had their bonets open so you can see inside… this was really attractive to Eric… me, not so sure what I was looking at, but he seemed to love it. Good mix of all colours, types of classic cars, really old vintage retro ones to racing cars and everything in-between.
Honestly, it was fun and I’m not even a car fan. But it’s hard not to appreciate it, whatever age you are and whoever you may be. Those classic cars are very attractive and aesthetically pleasing so can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of what you’re into.
We probably walked up and down the exhibition a good 4 times. On the Moor there’s a variety of coffee shops, shops and places to eat so we headed to Light Cinema for Zizzi and had pizza. I love their kids menu. After that, Eric wanted one more look at the cars before we left. Now every time we are in city centre since going to the car show he keeps asking to see them and gets upset they’re not there anymore!
I guess for him, next years Classic Car Show can’t come quick enough! Sheffield Vulcan RC manage the Classic Car Show so check cheir website for the next one closer to the time.
I’d love your recommendations for more car days out. He is obsessed with cars and everything to do with them. Our favourite places that go that are car related are museums like Experience Barnsley and MSI Museum in Manchester. He likes the vehicles at National Emergency Services Museum, too. Anything vehicle related, really! I’d love your recommendations for vehicle-related days out in and near Yorkshire. 🙂
