Mothers Day 2019 is Sunday March 31st! Pencil that in and plan a Mothers Day out for the whole family with these fun and special ideas. There’s something for all ages with walks, meal offers, special days out, theatre and more. Have a lovely time!

Celebrate Mothers Day at Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens in York. Make something special in the family art workshop.

Mothers Day lunch in the Garden Teahouse at Clumber Park. Then go on a walk, bike ride and have fun in the playgrounds.

Have a day out to Sudbury Hall & National Trust Museum of Childhood where they’re doing Mothers Day Crafts.

Enjoy Complimentary Fizz for mum and children’s roasts at The Rising Sun Hotel, Sheffield.

Padley Gorge, Longshaw Estate, Peak District

Longshaw Estate, National Trust is beautiful for a day out outdoors. It’s FREE and there’s pushchair friendly walks, Bogart trail and fairy houses. You could book for Mothers Day lunch at Fox House for after.

Have a walk out to Lodge Moor and Wyming Brook. You can get the 51 bus or park at Three Merry Lads pub.

Chatsworth House is a beautiful day out all year round but especially nice for Mothers Day. The gardens are wonderful, playground/farmyard is so much fun, or enjoy a free walk out in Stand Wood and Chatsworth Estate. The pubs in nearby Baslow are wonderful but book ahead!

Have a trip out to Bakewell. There’s a playground, have a walk along the water and feed the ducks, lots of pubs and fish and Chips!

More beautiful gardens: Hardwick Hall National Trust, Sheffield Botanical Gardens (free), Renishaw Hall & Gardens (reopens March 27th; highly recommend), RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate, Wentworth Historic Walled Garden.

Speaking of Harlow Carr (which I can’t recommend highly enough), the Easter Garden Trail starts on March 30th in time for Mothers Day.

What about an outdoor swim at Hathersage Outdoor Pool?! There’s a few public sessions open on Mothers Day, check timetable here.

Pushchair friendly walk at Damflask Reservoir. Plus feed the ducks at Low Bradfield. You could book a table at The Plough.

Try Monsal Trail for a flat walk from Hassop Station Cafe to Bakewell.

Mums travel for half price at Kirklee’s Light Railway. £3.75 instead of the RRP of £7.50.

Kelham Island Museum will be open on Mothers Day and is a good day out for all ages. Learn of the historical sheffield steel works, see the River Don Engine in steam and kids will love the soft play area. There’s many good pubs in the area or try Cutlery Works for something a bit different.

Climb up to Mother Cap at Surprise View and get some fresh air. It’s a good fun scramble up there and kids will love the adventure. You can cross over to Padley Gorge before/after!

Mothers Day Lunch at Whirlow Hall Farm, 12-3pm.

Mothers Afternoon tea and painting on Saturday 30th at Fired Arts.

Mothers Day menus at Admiral Rooney pub in Loxley, there’s a playground across the road and it’s just down from Langlands Garden Centre.

Enjoy Mothers Day afternoon tea and painting at Budding Picassos ceramic cafe 11-2pm.

A really special day out: Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath. We love it there and there’s so much to do for all ages. Cable car, country park, caves, museums, playgrounds, cafe and more.

Do the popular Forge Dam to Endcliffe Park walk in Sheffield. Cafes and playgrounds on both sides!

Mums pizza is free at Proove Centertainment!

Enjoy a play and walk at Millhouses Park, then Waggon & Horses pub is offering Mothers Day lunch and free family photos.

Mothers Day Lunch at The Stags Head on Psalter Lane, Sheffield. Good outdoor playground in the beer garden so kids can play while you eat. Close by to Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Sheffield General Cemetery and Endcliffe Park (all free)
