Here’s a guide to the best family events for Halloween 2017 in and around South Yorkshire. Tropical Butterfly House, Sheffield
Halloween Spookacular daily 21st October 2017 to 5th November 2017 – 10am – 5pm and Halloween fright nights 28th October 2017 and 31st October 2017 – 6pm – 9:30pm.
Halloween Spooktacular features a visit to the witches cottage, carve a pumpkin and spooky crafts, goulish tractor ride and much more. Halloween fright nights offers a spooky disco and trick or treat the witch, spooky storytelling, handling creepy crawlies and lots more spooky fun. Both events are included in admission price, although the evening fright night event cannot be entered free or charge with a day pass.
Halloween at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
No details are being released yet, but last year the Halloween event at Yorkshire Wildlife Park attracted record breaking number of visitors. It was a “three day extravaganza filled with a cast of creepy characters and mythical beasts”. Keep looking at their website to see the information which should be released very soon.
The Moor’s Little Monsters Halloween Party, Sheffield
This popular yearly free halloween party in Sheffield is always very popular. For 2017, the event on Sunday October 29 is from 11AM to 5PM and packed with family filled fun. There will be food and drink, stalls, music, halloween entertainment, photo opportunities with Caged Mummy and Giant Frankenstein. Fancy dress is a must! The event is free.
Whirlow Hall Farm Spooktacular, Sheffield
With two slots (morning and afternoon) on Tuesday 31st October and Wednesday 1st November 2017 this Halloween event at Whirlow Hall Farm is sure to impress. Both sessions are jam packed full of activities and entertainment for children, there is food and drink including the famous Whirlow BBQ and lots more. This is a sell-out event with booking advised. Times and prices: Morning session (10am-1pm), Afternoon session (2pm-5pm) Tickets £3.00 Adults, Children £3.50. (Children age 2 and under are FREE)
Piglets adventure farm, York
A Pumpkin Festival at Piglet’s includes a free pumpkin for every child! The festival is on daily from 21st October to 5th November and is included in farm entry price. There’s spooky attractions, magic shows, mysterious maze, trick or treat trails and loads more fun to be had on the farm for children to enjoy.
Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival, Pontefract
The UK’s largest pumpkin festival with over 120,000 is at Farmer Copleys from 7th October to 29th October on selected dates. It’s open from 10 am till 4pm, with story telling and fancy dress daily and LOTS of pumpkin fun to be had! Take your pick! The festival is free, just pay for your pumpkin/s!
Halloween at Renishaw Hall & Gardens, Chesterfield
On 27th to 29th October, the Halloween Family Pumpkin Trail can be enjoyed around the gardens at Renishaw Hall. The trail sees “The ghosts of Renishaw will leave a trail of pumpkins overnight to help children find the magic word….!” and sounds enjoyable for all the family. Normal admission applies starting from £6.50 adult.
Spook day at Sheffield Manor Lodge
Children will love spooky day at Sheffield Manor Lodge, on October 21st at 11am – 4pm with pumpkin treasure trail, spooky story telling, creepy crafts, ghoulish kids history tour and much more. Normal admission to the event applies which is £3 per adult, children free and includes entry to the lodge ruins, sand pit and lavender maze. Story telling slots have to be booked on the day.
Spooky autumn trail at National Trust’s Longshaw Estate
The trail around Longshaw Estate is from Saturday 21st October daily until 5th November. A map can be bought from the visitors centre for £1 and there is no admission cost. The trail is from 10:30-3:30pm and fancy dress is encouraged!
Cannon Hall Pumpkin Festival, Barnsley
The Pumpkin Festival runs October 21st to 31st and offers an “absolutely packed themed day out”. Enjoy a Witches Wood trick or treat trail, Halloween craft station, regular shows with witches, and every child paying full price admission will get a free pumpkin. Prices start at £9.95 per person and can be prebooked online.
There are three Halloween themed events at Stockeld Park: Bats in the maze, Eerie science week and Witches in the forest. The park is open daily from 20th – 31st October 10:30am – 8.30pm with Halloween adventure zones, woodland trail, real ice rink and enchanted forest. Adventure day passes can be bought online and on the day, for full info and prices check here.
Hardwick Hall crafts and family trail
There will be a Potions, Charms and Spells themed family trail from October 24th-29th. Trail sheets are from the gift shop for 50p and enable visitors to embark on a wizarding adventure around the park. Visitors on 21st -29th October on Wednesday to Sunday, can enjoy Halloween crafts between 11am-4pm.
Halloween Spooktakular at Coinsbrough Castle
Entry to the castle is FREE all day on 28th October 11am-4pm for this Halloween Spooktakular event. Coinsbrough Castle will be having spooky activities, spooky disco, fancy dress competition, spooky tales and much more for all the family.
