We love Leeds city museum. It is free and has loads to do for kids. They always seem to get it right for families.
The museum is well laid out. The galleries are spacious and clean. The toddler town play area is a fantastic space to play. A whole day can easily be spent here and with it being right in the city centre of Leeds; it is very convenient to get to.
We headed to the museum with our 15 month old. Opened today (10 February-28 August), the special exhibition “For All Seasons” was our first point of call.
For all seasons is an exhibition which takes you on a journal through all the seasons of the year. Colourful and pleasing to the eye, it’s fun for adults and kids.
The gallery is so colourful, a lot of space for toddlers to play, is inspirational and informative. It is full of fun interactive games and puzzles suitable for all ages but especially exciting for young ones.
My favourite thing about this gallery was how pretty it is. It makes you smile and is refreshing. It’s fun and quirky.
There are educational games and puzzles for children that will enable them to learn all about the seasons.
The Leeds story gallery was the next place we went. We love “toddler town” a toddler sized town themed play area. There’s a lot of toys, reading corner, miniachure house, toddler street and dolls house. It’s a free space to play and a great resource. It is a little dark for photos so see the video where we show you around inside this area.
The ancient Egyptian gallery includes puzzles, games and interactive exhibits which you can make enjoyable for toddlers. The gallery is interesting and there is a real mummy to see.
Down in the lower ground level is the life on earth gallery. We love this one; educational, interesting and fun.
The crafts corner is free to use; just like any part of the museum. It is well stocked and a really cosy area. There’s a good variety of things to do.
Leeds City Museum has a busy schedule of activities, classes and workshops for children and adults so check these before you plan your visit. There is a cafe, information desk and toilets so you can be assured of a place a whole day can be spent here with no issues. And with it being free, it makes a really good family day out.
Thank you for reading.
