A few months ago, I had an idea. I was in the process of organising and running my 2nd year of Sheffield For Kids Awards and I thought, how amazing would a Sheffield for kids party be?
Friends, family and volunteers helping me with the awards asked the same thing… will there be a ceremony? An awards party? That would be so cool!
At first I thought, that would be amazing; but certainly way out of my league.
But, big things come from very small beginnings.
Ideas changed from a ceremony to more of a general Sheffield kids party… but something to celebrate all the amazing things we have to do here, the best groups, classes, play centres, local small businesses, charities, etc. I envisioned an event that would welcome all families in Sheffield regardless of age of child and budget to enjoy a free day out and coming together to say “wow, how good is all of this and how lucky we are to have this in our city”
Overnight the small idea went BOOM!
I partnered up with Bex from Hullabaloobell Parties, a local & small independent party organiser who does the best and magical parties in Sheffield. We chose a charity that related to our event: Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity. It made sense to fundraise for a childrens charity helping to support those children who may never experience the activities and entertainment that is included in our event.
We have to realise that our children are very privileged to be able to go to fantastic classes, play centres, parties and picnics, events… where some children may never get this opportunity. This is our chance to give back and show our support for those families.
