Chatsworth House Playgrounds 10 Amazing Adventure Playgrounds in and near Sheffield

The adventure playgrounds at Chatsworth are fantastic! Chatsworth House in the Peak District is a wonderful day out and one of our firm favourites. The gardens are truly amazing and exploring them are a day out on their own! But the magic happens for kids at Chatsworth in the farmyard and playgrounds.

The friendly farm is lovely and clean with friendly animals split over 2 floors with a lift for accessibility. Kids can get the chance to take part in guinea pig handling, sitting on the large tractor & in school holidays, themed crafts and trailer rides. Upstairs, above the main barns a slope takes you right up to the most amazing adventure playgrounds! The surroundings are beautiful with a stream running and plenty of nature play opportunities. Take a bucket and spade for paddling and collecting rocks.

The actual playgrounds are just something else. There’s tons of space and LOTS to play on. A variety of play frames and areas means every child has something to choose from depending on their ability with fun for everyone (even adults). Equipment is suitable for toddlers right up to teens. There’s toddler frames, sand and water play areas, swings, tunnels, rope park and a much bigger and advanced adventure playground with trampoline, big slides and fantastic views over the peaks!

If you drive it definitely is worth booking your tickets for the farmyard & playgrounds online where your parking is included making it a very reasonable price for a fantastic day out. There are plenty of spaces to picnic and a snack hut up there, plus a cafe down at the farmyard and toilets. The good facilities top it all off. 🙂

It’s lovely to see Eric doing something different every time we go there. Read about our latest visit here10 Best Amazing Adventure Playgrounds in & near Yorkshire

National Coal Mining Museum For England

A day out here is completely FREE and the adventure playgrounds were new in 2017. They’re pretty good and there’s tons to have fun on plus spaces to picnic. We were really impressed when we went in January 2018 (read my review here), the playground is amazing and for free you can’t go wrong.

The playground has areas suitable for tots up to teens with frames, slides, tunnels, zip wire, roundabouts, infant area and adventure trail. It’s all new so very clean and shiny, too.

There’s lots more to do there, too, like enjoy the nature trail, see the pit ponies, explore the museum, go underground in the mines or have fun in the indoor under 5’s play area (Eric loved it).ounds in & near York

Adventure playground

The adventure playground at Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre is soooo unique and very impressive. It’s all handmade through a bespoke company making it a piece of art. Made all from wood, it’s very fun and inside you’ll find hidden mythical creature rubbings on the walls, plus funky art! Whilst the playground itself isn’t HUGE, there is so much else to do.

Outdoor play at Tropical Butterfly House is amazing in general with lots of little areas including wet play, sand play, under 5’s area, diggers and rides. We love it and have an annual pass. By the playground are toilets and picnic tables so you can settle down if you’re going to be there a while. The slides are really fun and don’t forget the zip wire!

Clifton Park & Museum, Rotherham

Free days out are awesome and Clifton park is one of them! When I first went last year I couldn’t believe how great it is and free, too. You must go! There’s a lovely little museum with interactive stuff for kids and cafe, and looooots of play areas outside with a variety of things to do to keep busy.

In the warmer months the water splash is very popular with 3 separate areas for all ages, a paddling pool and snack hut. There’s lots of spaces to set up picnic or even BBQ around the water and it gets very busy with families enjoying themselves! Next to the water splash area is a funfair, mini golf and land train stop (which all cost) but the playgrounds are all free. There’s slides, toddler area, sand pit area, bigger slides, adventure trail and scooter/skate park. Very fun and very good for a free day out.
