If weekend roundups had a headline, it would definitely be Sheffield Bricktropolis for this weekend! Sheffield BID & Alive After 5 have transformed Sheffield City Centre with LEGO 4 – 17 August. LEGO fans will be able to explore the city on the Sheffield Bricktropolis trail, a stunning spectacle featuring 20 world landmark models, plus a custom model of one of Sheffield’s most famous buildings. A diverse display of monuments, capital buildings and skyscrapers will be hosted by venues around the city, which families will be able to explore using the Sheffield Bricktropolis trail map and app.
Suitable for ages four and up, the Interactive Building Zone will feature workshops on cityscapes, in which children will be given the freedom to design their own cities, buildings and transport of the future. For kids who love space, there will be an opportunity to help create a moon base, and for those who like to get outside, the chance to build your own garden from bricks.

Have a day trip to Nottingham for their pop-up beach and festival in the city centre, on daily & free. We loved it last year.
Somewhere that is always quiet and is underestimated: Sheffield General Cemetery, in Sharrow. Open daily & free, such a lovely place for a stroll and woodland discovery.
For a big day out, one of our top favourites in sheffield has to be Tropical Butterfly House, wildlife & falconry centre. So much to do, interactive and great outdoor play.
Build a den in the woods. Graves Park has an animal farm (free) and really good playgrounds, plus a land train at weekends, or try Endcliffe Park: also good playgrounds, funfair & weekend safari train! What’s on this weekend in and around Sheffield for kids August 4/5
