It’s officially the school holidays but if you have tots that aren’t school age, this won’t mean anything to you (other than places get busier!) buttt… the good news about school holidays is it means there’s lots going on for all ages and summer is in full swing! DNFestival does Space, 10-5pm in Doncaster Town Centre, free. Annual summer festival with a space theme! Astronauts, pop up cinema, street theatre & more.

Explore the iron age in Doncaster at Heritage Doncaster’s Festival of Archaeology at Doncaster Museum & Art gallery, on Saturday, free. And on Sunday at the same museum it’s Celebrate Minden Day, free, with object handling, crafts, childrens activities, etc.

Join the circus at Circus! Family Fun Day at Weston Park Museum, on Saturday 11-4pm. Learn circus skills with green top circus, plus they’ll be family activities with a circus theme and creative sessions. Free.

It’s Medieval Mayhem’s Big Summer Bash party on Sunday with launch of a new mini golf, they’ll be lots going on all included in admission. You can expect stalls, BBQ, characters, sensory sessions & more.

On Sunday, the Thrybergh Country Park Summer Funday! is free and from 10:30-4pm. Rides, gifts & food.

On Saturday at the Hepworth Wakefield, 2:30-3:15pm, catch Antony Penrose – son of Lee Miller – tell the story behind his books for children ‘The Boy Who Bit Picasso’ and ‘Miró’s Magic Animals’, in this fun, informal event for families. Free.

Sheffield By The Sea will be open after officially starting on July 26th. Free! With rides, peace garden fountains, sandpit & childrens entertainment.

And speaking of sand, Meadowhall Beach Club will be on this weekend with a big sandpit, workshops & activities, all free.

Playmania sheffield are launching a summer play pass from Saturday, pay once & play the whole summer for £25 a child!

Thunder Theme Park at Graves Park with rides galore! Wristbands available for unlimited rides. Info poster below:

What’s on this weekend in and around Sheffield for kids July 28/29

Further out there is lots going on at Lotherton Hall in Leeds, zoo, dress up in the house, beautiful gardens and adventure playgrounds. Over the weekend will be Himalayas Week theme.

Rufford on the Beach will be on this weekend and all summer and is free at rufford abbey country park. Children’s entertainment, a sandpit, donkeys & punch and Judy.

Try Kings Park in Retford; it’s a recent discovery on my community group & everyone is loving it! A big, clean park with sandpit, adventure playgrounds and splash zone. Free & free parking. There’s free pantos in august, see their what’s on page.

Watch Teletubbies Live at The Lyceum this weekend, the Teletubbies first ever theatre show for little ones.

At Sheffield Botanical Gardens, watch The Railway Children at 2:30pm or 6:30pm on saturday and 5pm on Sunday. Take your own chair! Book here.

It’s Tudor Open Day on Sunday at Sheffield Manor Lodge. Explore the ruins, have fun in the sandpit and lavender maze, meet Bess Hardwick and much more.

Did you know Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre have a splash and sand zone? It’s really good with lots of toys to play with and no fountains; all water tables, sand pits & (not aggressive) sprays, right next to a very good playground & ride on zone. Highly recommend!

Have you tried Aston Springs Farm? There’s a lovely farm trail with playground area, picnic area, soft play in a pizza barn, farm shop, paint a pot studio and restaurant. Great place and very good price.
