First up let’s look at the weather forecast as that’s sort of important when planning things to do/days out! Weekend looks like 7-9 degrees, grey, could be some odd showers on Saturday. So overall okay, really, let’s just hope the sun comes out.

Inflatable Planet at Concord Leisure Centre all weekend, 12 stations to have fun on.

Kids go free at Matlock Farm Park all January, no voucher needed! £7 an adult.

For more inflatable parks, try Airhaus or Jump Incflated.

Day trip? National Science & Media museum in Bradford is fantastic for a free day out, and on Saturday there’s a kids showing of Smallfoot.

See Babes in The Wood at The Montgomery Theatre on Saturday afternoon.

Pick from any these 5 top days out for families in Sheffield: Weston Park Museum, Norfolk Heritage Park, Graves Park, Longshaw Estate, Botanical Gardens.

Something free in Leeds: Free family art workshops at The Tetley “Memory Catwalk” at 11am.

Try Crafts for 3+ years with Creation Station on Saturday in Rotherham.

Fancy a day out with a bit of history? Try a English Heritage day out from this list.

Fun Science- Light & Dark workshop at Ecclesfield Library on Saturday, suitable for 4+.

How about craft and activities at Crafty Kids and then see the animals, have a walk around Pot House Hamlet and possibly the cafe for lunch? All of this is at Pot House Hamlet in Penistone. Crafty Kids is a lovely craft cafe and has drop-in Saturday 10-2pm suitable for all ages. I really liked it and thought it was such a unique little place.

Free puppetry workshop and Pierogi Dumplings at People’s Kitchen Pitsmoor on Saturday afternoon from 2pm. Free family event.

The new Zog activity trail at Sherwood Pines opens Friday January 11th! “Follow the trail markers through the woods to find familiar characters from the story, collect stars as you learn like Zog did at dragon school, and complete interesting challenges along the way.”. Activity packs £3, but not needed.

Fancy a little walk and seeing some animals in Sheffield? Try Aston Springs Farm or Mayfield Alpacas Park.

Try a wintery walk in the woods at Forge Dam and walk to Endcliffe Park. Don’t miss Shepherds Wheel Workshop on the way.

Wrap up warm and find the 6 soundscapes on the sound trail at Beningbrough Hall, Gallery & Gardens.

Take the kids for an explore in the woods and try the Grenoside woods trail.

Have you seen the new climbing wall at Meadowhall? Rock Up has a variety of climbing walls plus a soft play area.

national coal mining museum What’s on this weekend in and around Sheffield for kids January 12/13

On Monday we went to National Coal Mining Museum For England in Wakefield and really recommend it for a FREE day out. Museum, indoor play area, adventure playground, pit ponies, underground tours (over 5’s) and large cafe!

FREE at The Hepworth Wakefield Musical Sculptures family workshop… “Have you ever wondered what sound an artwork might make?”. Join artist Cheryl Camm to create music inspired by the colours, shapes and forms of the artworks in our collections and exhibitions. 11am, 12.15pm, 1.45pm, 3pm book at reception desk on arrival. There is a lovely cafe, art pods in the galleries for children and a playground outside. I took Eric last Sunday and we were there for about 3 hours; we love it for a free day out.

Find somewhere family friendly to eat in the City Centre here, or what about these lovely parks with cafes?

Put the wellies on for a lovely family walk (and all of these ones have a playground!) or swap the wellies for climbing shoes and go for a scramble at Mother Cap.
