Clifton Park and Museum in Rotherham is probably best well known for it’s really great splash park. The park is one of the best in South Yorkshire and the splash park is free, making it very popular in the good weather months!
Clifton Park is a really good, free day out for both indoor & outdoor.
Not only the splash park but there’s great playgrounds, sandpits, slides, a fun fair and loads of space to picnic. But we like Clifton Park for more than just the splash park and I think you should explore the museum!
The museum is FREE and at the top of the park. There’s some good interactive areas for children, plus colouring stations and some toys, animals, lego, dress up, old vintage toy cabinets and a Victorian play kitchen. It costs nothing to visit. And especially if go to the park when the weather isn’t so great, the museum is a good indoor option.
Clifton Park & Museum is free. It’s at Clifton Ln, Rotherham S65 2AA. The Museum is in a 1871 old house and open every day apart from Sundays 10am-5pm.
It’s worth following them on Facebook because there’s often free activities for little ones, like sensory sessions or toy handling.
In the downstairs room to the left, is a children’s gallery. With animals, buttons to press with animal sounds, colouring, books, a rocking horse and tunnel.
Just outside the museum is a little path to a rock garden. It’s lovely to walk around there and you can walk right down to where the splash area and playgrounds are.
There is a cafe at the museum and kiosk down at the splash park.
